This single page is another gack. This time from the manga Sister Red by Shizuru Hayashiya. A manga for which I can find only one qualm – it’s far too short. Only two volumes long, though there may be a sequel I don’t know about (info, anyway?) Anyway I noticed how similar the last few pages were t a fanfiction of mine and adapted as I saw fit. Also, while I use Anzu and all other characters Japanese names here, I used Atem for the pharaoh, specifically because Atemu is believed to be a case of mispronunciation and I have to say, Atem sounds far more Egyptian than Atemu, to me.

The context for this scene is as follows: Post series, Yami has been somewhat-reluctantly broken out of the after life and basically had his brain twisted a bit while he was in the void between one world and another. With a semi-demonic force influencing his actions his return to the human world saw him in great confusion and ended up sort of on purpose-by-accident (if that makes any sense) sticking most of how friends in hospital. His attack on Anzu here, however, is very much deliberate motivated by sheer confusion and disbelief.

I remain in the belief that Anzu needs a lot more love and a lot less bashing. This will probably be done in colour but for now, the only colour you see is the red of the blood and Atem’s eyes. With only her and Jounouchi remaining they have to find some way to convince him that his fears about their abandoning him in a horrific afterlife are very much misguided (not to mention the fact that they are, in fact, his friends). And Anzu would, I think, go through any amount of pain to prove that. (Yeah, I know, not awfully original but originality in the fic appears to becoming from the mutated sandcastles and dominos, at the moment… don’t ask.)
